click here for our Doctor's Orders Podcast As part of my grieving process for the loss of my beautiful soulmate Alicia I did this mix of tracks that either meant things to us or were just her favourite to party to. I hope it helps those of you that knew her as much as it helped me. Certain songs have a particular pertinence such as Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely", the song he wrote at the birth of his daughter, that Alicia always told me her parents played when they brought here home from the hospital. Edwin Birdsong's "Cola Bottle Baby" was my ringtone for Alicia not only, as the lyrics would suggest, because of her gorgeous figure, but also because of her addiction to Cola Bottles. Apache's "Gangster Bitch" Alicia posted on her facebook page & I remember singing the hook from "The Posion" to Alicia one morning just for jokes as we often did telling her to "Tell shorty what it is" so they had to go on here. Many of the tracks on here are tunes that I remember Alicia dancing to at either parties I had thrown or events we attended together. "The Rockwilder" is one of those tracks that would see Alicia rush the dance-floor to shake her stuff with that incredible smile on her face while. I remember her dancing to both "Candy Girl" and doing the 2 step to Cameo's "Candy" on my birthday this summer, which is just one of the many days we spent with friends that holds particular memories. One of the music bonds me and Alicia had was for the "Golden Era" of 90's Hip-Hop that we grew up on and I was always quietly impressed with her knowledge and stories of heading to school with Mobb Deep, Wu Tang & Tribe on her walkman. On top of that she loved to throw down to the new dirty south and digi bangers as I call them like Mims, Dem Franchise Boys (which she sang non stop for about a month) and "Drivin' Down The Block" that was a particular favourite of her's and Lauren's, getting them up and dancing by her Mum's pool in Ibiza. As anyone that knows me will tell you that in my opinion when it comes to beats no one did it better than Dilla and again this is somewhere me and Alicia agreed. "Stakes Is High" and "In The Streets" being two of her favourites and the "The Look Of Love" just felt like it had to be in here. Another producer / mc that Alicia loved was MF Doom, as her recent Tattoo showed, so he had to be represented again through a couple of her favourite tracks. The rest of the tracks are things I know she loved and would have enjoyed listening to. She asked once or twice, maybe more, when I was gonna do a mix just for her so here it is baby. I hope you like it. Miss you loads and will never forget you!
