London’s Hip-Hop party providers The Doctor’s Orders have been representing all aspects of Hip-Hop for over 5 years now. From UK to US stars, underground, to mainstream sounds they have left no musical stone unturned and now it is time for the ladies to step up and represent.
Despite the accusations of misogynism the Hip-Hop scene has always been populated and popularised by the fairer sex. From back in the day with the Funky 4 plus 1’s Sha Rock, the golden era classics from the likes to Roxanne Shante & Queen Latifa through to the UK’s own Estelle reigning both sides of the pond in the last couple years, ladies have always played a major part in the culture of Hip-Hop and we are gonna show you why with a line up of the finest talent on show tonight.
DJ Kayper has been rocking clubs up and down the country ever since winning the Vestax Juice DJ competition in 2004. Her sublime mixing saw her signed up to host a show on the BBC’s Asian Network where she welcomed guests including Common, Will-I-Am & Lupe Fiasco and more. She has the innate ability to read a crowd and keep them dancing all night.
Slightly newer on the scene is DJ Yasmin, a young lady that has been making a name for herself not only in London’s hottest clubs but also as US rapper Eve’s tour DJ. Having rocked Glastonbury this year she is ready, willing and more than able to enthral The Doctor’s Orders regulars.
Brining a live element to proceedings is the incredible Yarah Bravo. A hugely talented multi tasker she defines the saying “don’t sleep” by not only recording great tunes but also booking her own shows, shooting her own videos, making her own clothes, hosting her own parties as well as still finding time to be a stylist and cut hair! As passionate about music as she is life itself you are sure to be blown away by the power of this unique artist.
Joining her on stage for a warm up set are new girls on the scene Sahasrara. The combined forces of member Jay Diamond and Naomi The Empress is sure to turn a lot of heads as they use their unique vocal skills to re-invent classic Hip-Hop productions from the likes of 9th Wonder & Just Blaze with tales of modern life, love and loss. They will be performing tracks from their Sunshine Bus mixtape.
Setting the mood for the entire party with a back 2 back set of pure dance-floor gold are two of the best loved ladies on the London scene Lucy Pink & Mildilla. Never ones to shy away from a party or a challenge they will be bringing the ruckus from as soon as they hit the decks so come ready to party!
